Throughout my academic and professional career, I have acquired diverse experiences that have strengthened my communication competence through travel and work. For additional information, please contact me.

UWL Athletics Marketing Internship

During my time at UWL, I interned with UWL Athletics as a marketing intern. My role involved developing and facilitating marketing outreach programs to promote athletic events, creating sponsorship scripts, and managing sponsorship activation to engage fans. I coordinated and collaborated on various events, provided engaging commentary for collegiate games, and managed graphics and recordings for live streams. Additionally, I contributed to social media marketing by assisting with content creation, posts, and distribution for athletic events.

Sports Broadcaster for Lacrosse Games

In my junior year's spring, I broke my leg at the start of the lacrosse season. Simultaneously, the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse sought a lacrosse game announcer. I eagerly took this role, blending my passion for communication and athletics. I delivered creative commentary on the livestream, engaging the audience with humor and team statistics.

This experience ignited my passion for sports communication. I learned to think and commentate quickly in a fast-paced environment, appreciating the demands of high-pressure situations. I discovered the importance of strategic creativity and timing, knowing when to be humorous and when to focus on key statistics. Above all, I realized that confidence is crucial in broadcasting, ensuring an engaging experience for the audience.

Study Abroad – Barcelona, Spain

In the fall of my junior year at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, I studied abroad in Barcelona, Spain. I used my Spanish minor to interact with locals and navigated various challenges, such as transportation and ordering food. This experience broadened my understanding of different cultures as I traveled to several countries, learning about unique traditions, foods, and music.

Studying abroad taught me independence, as I immersed myself in an unfamiliar culture and language. It encouraged me to form relationships with people from diverse backgrounds and explore new places. I learned the value of diversity and how it offers unique perspectives. Additionally, I improved my problem-solving skills in high-pressure situations and appreciated the importance of preparation, and researching Spanish culture to ensure respectful interactions.

Costa Rica Lacrosse Clinic

In the winter of my junior year at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, my lacrosse team led a clinic in Costa Rica. We taught drills to locals of various ages and abilities despite a language barrier. As a Spanish minor, I communicated with participants and led drills by explaining and demonstrating them.

This experience emphasized the importance of patience, as I sometimes struggled with accents and vocabulary. Combining verbal and visual teaching methods proved effective. Maintaining a positive attitude was crucial, keeping everyone motivated despite miscommunications. The locals' enthusiasm was contagious, helping my team stay optimistic.

Leading the clinic improved my leadership skills and highlighted the value of diversity. We incorporated some Costa Rican lacrosse styles into our own, fostering innovation and success for both teams.
